Thanksgiving in PNG

Over the past week, several friends from the United States have wished us a happy Thanksgiving.

Living in a foreign country and working with so many expats that aren't from the US, Thanksgiving is hardly and sporatically celebrated.  I don't believe there is an equivalent holiday in most countries.

On the other hand, over the course of a week, we had 3 (!!) Thanksgiving meals. One at our house the Sunday before, one after work (!!) on Thanksgiving Day at a friends home, and one the Saturday after at another friends. All were with chicken 'cause there are no turkeys.

At the one on Thanksgiving Day, we used a strawberry/rhubarb jam instead of cranberry sauce, no sausage or other goodies to add to the stovetop stuffing, cole slaw instead of salad, and corn bread instead of roles.  Dessert was brownies instead of pumpkin pie.

Yes, we had a nice Thanksgiving 'cause we were with friends thanking God for His many, many blessings.

Happy Thanksgiving, America.
